At the Bake Shop - General Store you can find Grain Culture bread and pastries here fresh every morning Monday to Sunday, with some delicious coffee from The Brew Project.
Alongside the great coffee, bread and pastries, we are committed to finding the best and most interesting products out there. You can find anything from larder goods and hand-cut farmhouse cheeses from Neal’s Yard Dairy, to small batch beers and natural wines to take home with you. Come for the bread and pastries, stay for the coffee and go home with dinner.
Products
We stock only products that we buy and eat ourselves. Sourcing from many suppliers, we do focus on the smaller scale producers with an aim to bring the kind of food to Ely we’ve been missing. We have fresh cheeses from Neal’s Yard Dairy and Fen Farm and dairy from Estate Dairy (which we also use in our coffees).
We also stock proper Italian dried pasta, Spanish crisps and cured meats, French and Portugese tinned fish and terrines, Italian soft drinks, local honey and jams, gorgeous loose leaf teas and an array of Italian pates and antipasti. You can peruse our selection when you come to collect any bread or pastries, which you can pre-order.
We specialise in natural wine here at the Bake Shop - General Store, building a collection that focuses on small producers and natural wine. We love to keep things fresh and interesting so rotate our wines with every new order.
Join us for a glass of wine in store, we have a selection of six different wines on offer by the glass each day of the week. A great way to try a wine before you buy, or simply to just unwind and enjoy a few moments to yourself. Pick up a snack, a glass of wine and sit in our lovely garden. We also have regular wine evenings, check them out here.
Enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate with us here in store. Find seating in our wine section and our pantry room to sip and peruse, potting shed corridor and in our lovely walled garden.
You can even sit on the bench outside and enjoy a bit of people watching on St. Mary’s Street, perfect on a sunny day.
